Photograph of July 4th bonfire in late 1940s. Amherst Village Store (formerly the carriage house to the Amherst Hotel) in the background to the right. The barn and former shed garage to the Col. Robert Means House in the background to the left. Main Street and Middle Street (former site of Amherst Hotel), Amherst, NH. Writing on back: "4th of July bonfire in late 1940s. Corner of Main and Middle on green of Amherst Family Practice. Railroad ties from bed crossing, Thornton's Ferry Rd. #1." This is a re-print of the original photograph (reprinted June 1958).
